We provide quality programs for community Children and Youth
About Us – Conant Avenue United Methodist Church is a church that puts their love for God and community into action. Our focus is healthy children, youth, young adults, and healthy families. We believe in providing every child with equal opportunities to succeed. The social life and pressures that teens face today are simply overwhelming. Our programs are designed to help youth feel safe and engaged, minus the outside pressure. Here youth get to know God while letting others get to know them..

Coding, Arts and Creative Writing Programs
Date: Weekly in the Fall Term (Sept - Dec) and Winter Term (Jan - April)
K - 12th Grade - (5-18 year old’s)
Our Arts program first began in 2015 and has been expanding ever since. Lessons are taught by volunteer students, including Fine Arts majors in the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan, English and Creative Writing majors, hobby designers and writers. There is a very low student/U of M teacher ratio.
Lessons are split into three parts: Coding, Arts and Creative Writing. Art projects include both 2D and 3D mediums, from acrylic and watercolor painting to clay and fabric weaving. Creative writing teaches both prose and poetry, focusing on activities that are fun, engaging, and educational for students of all reading and writing skill levels. (Both Art and Creative Writing are in person at Conant Avenue UM Church from Sept. to Dec. and Jan. to June. Students will also be taught basic Coding skills in a virtual program (Coming in Fall of 2023, Coding will also be in-person at Conant.)
The program is taught weekly in the fall term (September to December) and winter term (January to April). At the end of each term, students display their art, writing, and coding, assembled in a gallery for parents, family, and community members, showcasing the skills they have learned throughout the semester.
